Fava with Tomato Sauce

Traditional Greek Fava is one of the best things in Greece. All it takes is a handful of ingredients and half an hour. Serve with plenty of bread and red wine!

  • 4 cup water
  • 1 cup fava beans
  • salt
  • pepper
  • onion
  • olive oil
  • capers
  • tomato


  • In a saucepan add 4 cups of water, 1 cup of fava beans, salt, pepper and a whole pealed onion. After it starts boiling, remove the foam and simmer for 30 - 45 minutes over medium heat until fava beans become a velvet mixture.
  • Put fava in a bowl, add olive oil, onions and capers.
