Ingredients

  • 8 slices white bread
  • 1 lb minced pork or mixed pork and beef
  • 1 small onion finely grated
  • 1 tsp Bulgarian savory chubritsa
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup grated kashkaval cheese
  • Optional paprika or chili flakes
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine minced meat, grated onion, Bulgarian savory, black pepper, and salt.
  • Mix thoroughly until evenly combined.
  • Allow the meat mixture to rest for 10–15 minutes for better flavor.
  • Spread a thin layer of butter over each bread slice.
  • Arrange bread slices on a parchment-lined baking tray.
  • Spread the meat mixture evenly over each slice.
  • Top with grated kashkaval cheese.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes until the bread becomes crispy and the cheese turns golden.
  • Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
