Wine Kebab with Mashed Potatoes
Wine Kebab with Mashed Potatoes is popular Bulgarian stew made with meat cooked in red wine, and combined with a variety spices and served with mashed potatoes. The recipe is popular throughout the whole country and can be found in variations with veal or beef. You can use any red wine but the better wine you use the better the wine sauce will turn out.
Wine Kebab with Mashed Potatoes
This is an old Bulgarian Recipe of stew made with meat cooked in wine sauce, and served with mashed potatoes.
Servings: 6
Ingredients
- 700 g pork
- 1 cup red wine
- 3 onions
- 5 tbsp tomatoes
- salt
- black pepper
- flour
- paprika
- 1 bay leaf
- 350 ml water
- parsley
Mashed Potatoes
- 6 potatoes
- 150 ml milk
- 3⅓ tbsp butter
- salt
- black pepper
Instructions
- Cut the meat into pieces.
- Heat a pot with oil over medium heat and add the cut onion, add the meat pieces and saute them about 20 min.
- Season with spices and pour the wine, and water.
- Bring the pot to boiling and let it cook until meat pieces gets tender.
- Use another pot and boil water. Add the potatoes and salt.
- Mash the potatoes when still warm and add the butter, milk and season with salt and black pepper.
